Botswana, Capital Markets in Africa — The Botswana Stock Exchange Equity Markets Domestic Composite Index (DCI), Domestic Financial Sector Index (DFSI) recorded increases while the Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) remained flat today. Market capitalisation settled lower with price gains made in two stocks and no price losses in the listed tradeable securities.
The Botswana Domestic Composite Index (DCI) gained by 2 points to close 10,626.12 points a 0.2 percent rise from its previous close of 10,818.03 points recorded in the previous session.
Likewise, the Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) was up after the days trading closing at 793.21 gaining 0.02 points from its previous close of 793.19 points, a change of 0.00 percent (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning).
The Foreign Composite Index (FCI) remained flat to close 1,562.92 points after the days trading closing 0.00 percent down from its previous close of 1562.92 points.
The Domestic financial Sector index (DFSI) which is composed of all domestic financial sector companies, increased by 0.07 percent to close on 1238.88 points after the days trading.
The market capitalisation settled at BWP 419,045.71 million with the Domestic Equity BWP accounting for BWP 50,371.16 million and the Foreign Equity Main Board accounting for BWP 368,674.55 million.
From a market activity perspective, the total daily volume settled at 1,972,365 shares traded which were exchanged from the 24,228 million Securities issued bringing the total turnover of those shares traded on the domestic and foreign main boards to BWP 6,138,889.01 million.
Leading the market activity in terms of the traded volumes were Letshego recording volumes of 1,927,454, Choppies recording volume figures of 23,783 followed by Turnstar with 17,150.
In terms of price gainers and price losers there was two price gainers today leaving market breadth positive, BIHL was up 1 point to close at BWP 1477 per share and FSG was up 1 point to close at BWP 272 per share.
