Gaborone, Botswana (Capital Markets in Africa):- Share price rises of Domestic companies listed on the BSE Equity Main Board from Thursdays session were sustained into todays session as the DCI main and local LASI indices recorded further increases. The market capitalisation also saw further increases, along with 5 price movements, ensuring the markets ended the week on a positive note.
The Botswana Domestic Composite Index (DCI) was up a further 14.00 points to add to the 20 points put on yesterday to close at BWP 10,755.41 up 0.14 percent from its previous close of 10,740.51.
The Foreign Composite Index (FCI) again remained flat registering no change to close at 1,571.83 points the same as on the previous days session.
The Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) was up 0.14 points closing at 797.94 up 0.02 percent from its previous close of 797.80. (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning.)
From a market activity perspective, the daily volume settled at 980,408 shares trades which were exchanged from the 25.498 million Securities issued ensuring that the turnover of those shares traded came to BWP 4,136,161.33.
The equity market capitalization settled at BWP 421,426.67 up BWP 60 million from the BWP 421,366 million recorded at the end of yesterday’s session.
Looking at the price movers’, there were 5 Domestic companies that recorded price changes. Moving towards the green zone were BIHL up BWP 20 to close the day at BWP 1,412 per share, FNBB up BWP 1 to close at BWP 395 per share, FSG up BWP 4 to close at BWP 260 per share, LETSHEGO up BWP 1 to close at BWP 322 per share and STANCHART gained BWP 4 to settle at BWP 1270 per share.
In terms of Volumes and Turnover LETSHEGO was the pick of the bunch with 428,500 of its securities traded at BWP 320 per share. These were exchanged from the 2,184,901,665 securities it has issued enabling a turnover of BWP 1,379,765.00 million for the days trading.
