Botswana (Capital Markets in Africa):- The BSE Equity Markets indices show signs of recovery in todays session as the DCI main recorded a rise and local LASI indices also recorded a rise. The FCI index once again recorded no change.
The Botswana Domestic Composite Index (DCI) rose by 5 points to close at BWP 10,940.80 up by 0.04 percent from its previous close of BWP 10,936.44. The Foreign Composite Index (FCI) recorded no change and remained the same today settling at 1571.27.
The Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) recorded a rise of 0.04 points closing at 800.06 , a 0.01 percent increase from its previous close of 800.02. (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning).
The Domestic financial Sector index (DFSI) which is composed of all domestic financial sector companies was up 0.82 points to 1274.23 points, a 0.06 percent rise from its previous close of 1273.41 points.
From a market activity perspective, the total daily volume settled at 436,886 shares traded which were exchanged from the 25,712 million Securities issued bringing the total turnover of those shares traded on the domestic and foreign main boards to BWP 3,344,371.52 million.
The market activity in terms of traded volumes were taken by STANCHART (165,147) who recorded the highest volume figures followed by Letshego (63,471), BIHL (51,695) and Letlotle (45,000).
The combined equity market capitalization settled at BWP 422,512 million recorded at the end of the day’s session with the Domestic Equity Main Board accounting for BWP 51,861.73 million and the Foreign Equity Main Board accounting for BWP 370,650.94 million.
Looking at the price movers’, there were 4 Domestic companies that recorded price changes to the green zone and 1 that recorded movement to the red zone. Moving towards the green zone were Letlotle up BWP 1 to close the day at BWP 224 per share, Primetime up BWP 2 to close the day at BWP 288 per share, Sefalana up BWP 1 to close at BWP 1252 and Turnstar up BWP 1 to close at BWP 256.
Barclays lost BWP -1 points to settle at 436 points.
