Cote D’Ivoire Equity Market | 2 Sep 2015: Overall equity trading continues on the downtrend but distribution sector index 0.13% higher
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 295.58 to 294.79 points, a drop of 0.27 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.12 percent to 295.20 against 295.56 points previously.
The equity market capitalization plummeted by XOF 9 billion (about US$15 million) to close at XOF 7,284 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,293 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 113,150 traded stocks relative to 124,479 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,871 million (against XOF 2,218 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 275 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was SONATEL SENEGAL with 46,526 traded securities (accounted for almost 41 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1.163 million contributing nearly about 62 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 7.01 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.61.
Among the 30 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 7 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover by soaring by 3.45 percent to end at XOF 30,000. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 2.82 percent at XOF 73,000 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 20,000 after jumping by 2.56 percent. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE share price surged by 2.50 percent to close at XOF 20,000 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 27,000 with 1.89 percent gains.
Conversely, NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 7.02 percent to settle at XOF 53,000 as the biggest loser and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.37 percent to close at XOF 82,500. TOTAL SENEGAL fell by 2.22 percent to close at XOF 26,000 and SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE lost 1.11 percent to trade at XOF 45,000. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 106,000 after declining by 0.92 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index rose by 0.12 percent at 164.40 points but public utilities sector index plunged by 0.37 percent to end at 797.53 points. The distribution sector index surged by 0.13 percent to end at 561.27 points and financial services sector index rose by 0.01 percent to end at 109.08 points. Agriculture sector index climbed up by 0.45 percent to trade at 198.24 points. Miscellaneous sector index sagged by 1.11 to end at 555.56 but Transportation sector index remained steady at 925.22 points.
