Cote d’Ivoire Equity Market | 26 Aug 2015: BRVM bourse equity lower today and composite index 0.34% down
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 296.73 to 294.99 points, a drop of 0.59 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.34 percent to 293.80 against 294.80 points previously.
The equity market capitalization fell by XOF 24 billion (about US$41 million) to close at XOF 7,250 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,274 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at63,759 traded stocks relative to 84,024 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,360 million (against XOF 1,072 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 292 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE with 18,551 traded securities (accounted for almost 29 percent of the total volume). UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 484.472 million contributing nearly about 36 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at16.09 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.42.
Out of the 31 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 5 witnessed price drops and 14 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer by surging by 5.26 percent to end at XOF 20,000. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 4.06 percent at XOF 100,000 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 82,000 after jumping by 2.50 percent. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE price soared by 1.67 percent to close at XOF 24,400 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 16,000 with 1.27 percent gains.
ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION TOGO fell by 3.65 percent to settle at XOF 56 as the biggest loser and CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 0.68 percent to close at XOF 73,000. Likewise, TOTAL SENEGAL plunged by 0.26 percent to close at XOF 26,520 and NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted 0.10 percent to trade at XOF 4,995. SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 168,995 after crashing by 0.003 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index rose by 0.21 percent at 164.68 points and public utilities sector index surged by 0.03 percent to close at 800.87 points. The distribution sector index surged by 0.78 percent to end at 547.99 points but financial services sector index plunged 1.68 percent to end at 107.02 points. The Agriculture sector index rose by 0.63 percent to close at 203.71 points. Transportation sector index remained flat at 926.62 and miscellaneous sector index remained steady at XOF 561.79 points.
