Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 299.03 to 300.26 points, a gain of 0.41 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.39 percent at 299.21 points against 298.06 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 62 billion (about US$107 million) to close at XOF 7,383 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,321 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 703,305 traded stocks relative to 141,189 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,664.554 million (against XOF 814.734 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 325 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 644,052 traded securities (accounted for about 91.56 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 410.458 million contributing nearly 24.66 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 69.29 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.21.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 30 traded securities today, 18 stocks experienced price gains, 7 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer by adding 7.49 percent to end at XOF 32,935. SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 7.14 percent at XOF 9,000 and BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO closed at XOF 117,500 after adding 5.86 percent. SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 5.83 percent to close at XOF 11,800 and SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 104,000 after surging by 4.00 percent.
Conversely, SMB COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 7.49 percent to settle at XOF 17,115 as the biggest loser and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 7.22 percent to trade at XOF 4,500. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 5.92 percent to close at XOF 270,000 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 2.63 percent to trade at XOF 70,105. NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 4,300 after dropping 2.16 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoint, the Industry sector index added 1.07 percent at 164.63 points and Public Utilities sector index rose by 0.17 percent to end at 827.83 points. Financial Services sector index jumped by 0.44 percent to end at 108.58 points and Distribution sector index moved up 0.07 percent to end at 550.30 points. The Agriculture sector index climbed by 2.13 percent to close at 193.47 points. Transportation sector index crashed by 0.13 percent to settle at 947.26 points and Miscellaneous sector index added 6.32 percent to close at 597.22 points.
