Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 300.26 to 303.62 points, a gain of 1.12 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.83 percent at 301.70 points against 299.21 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 61 billion (about US$105 million) to close at XOF 7,445 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,383 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 941,533 traded stocks relative to 703,305 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,091.531 million (against XOF 1,664.554 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 33 traded securities via 248 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 910,187 traded securities (accounted for about 96.67 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 502.500 million contributing nearly 46.04 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 70.32 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.32.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 33 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer by adding 6.30 percent to end at XOF 287,000. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 5.27 percent at XOF 27,950 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO ended at XOF 13,300 after gaining 2.15 percent. TOTAL SENEGAL share price surged by 1.90 percent to close at XOF 26,500 and SONATEL SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 26,400 after surging by 1.73 percent.
Conversely, BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO plummeted by 4.13 percent to settle at XOF 112,650 as the biggest loser and NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE went down by 2.44 percent to trade at XOF 4,195. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 1.33 percent to close at XOF 74,000 and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 1.22 percent to trade at XOF 4,445. SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 11,745 after dropping 0.47 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index gained 0.12 percent at 164.83 points and public utilities sector index rose by 1.89 percent to end at 841.80 points. However, Financial services sector index fell by 0.20 percent to end at 108.36 points but distribution sector index moved up 0.75 percent to end at 554.45 points. The agriculture sector index climbed by 1.15 percent to close at 195.69 points but transportation sector index lost 0.02 percent to settle at 947.05 points and miscellaneous sector index added 1.29 percent to close at 604.94 points.
