Cote D’Ivoire Equity Markets | 06 Oct 2015: Positive Momentum Continues, BRVM Composite index 0.38% higher
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 303.67 to 304.86 points, a gain of 0.39 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.38 percent at 303.33 points against 302.17 points previously.
The equity market capitalization surged by XOF 28.64 billion (about US$49 million) to close at XOF 7,485 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,456 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 262,649 traded stocks relative to 757,001 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 635.087 million (against XOF 1,036.845 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 288 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 250,208 traded securities (accounted for about 95.26 percent of the total volume). SGB COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 240.708 million contributing nearly 37.90 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 16.70 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.36.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 31 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 7 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price advancers by gaining 7.50 percent to end at XOF 126,850. NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.27 percent at XOF 4,500 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 15,500 after adding 6.90 percent. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE share price soared by 3.57 percent to close at XOF 29,000 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 21,000 after rising by 2.44 percent.
On the contrary, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE crashed by 6.24 percent to settle at XOF 30,000 as the biggest loser and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE lost 1.12 percent to trade at XOF 4,395. BANK OF AFRICA NIGER slumped by 1.05 percent to close at XOF 84,105 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 0.61 percent to trade at XOF 81,000. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 17,000 after losing 0.58 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index sagged by 0.32 percent at 163.85 points and public utilities sector index plunged by 0.32 percent to end at 838.58 points. However, financial services sector index surged by 1.44 percent to end at 110.82 points and distribution sector index jumped 0.56 percent to end at 558.19 points. The agriculture sector index accelerated by 3.70 percent to close at 201.10 points but transportation sector index plummeted by 0.02 percent to settle at 946.87 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 650.31 points.
