Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 305.78 to 305.95 points, a gain of 0.06 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.13 percent at 306.23 points against 305.82 points previously.
The equity market capitalization grew by XOF 10.2 billion (about US$17.51million) to close at XOF 7,557 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,546 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 68,267 traded stocks relative to 64,850 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 968.645 million (against XOF 386.554 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 271 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 36,098 traded securities (accounted for about 52.9 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 474.067 million contributing nearly 48.9 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 2.55 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.64.
From the market movers’ perspectives, out of the 30 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the gainers zone, SGB COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 130,750. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 6.12 percent at XOF 26,000 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 17,700 by adding 4.12 percent. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL share price surged by 4.01 percent to close at XOF 85,000 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 125,000 after adding 3.30 percent.
On the losers’ district, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE skid by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 20,350 as the biggest loser and SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 7.45 percent to trade at XOF 8,325. NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.04 percent to close at XOF 48,000. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO slacked by 1.82 percent to settle at XOF 54.00 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE somersaulted by 0.42 percent to trade at XOF 23,900.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index added 0.38 percent at 165.51 points but public utilities sector index declined by 0.30 percent to end at 832.83 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.80 percent to end at 113.13 points and distribution sector index went up by 0.09 percent to end at 582.46 points. The agriculture sector index sagged by 0.27 percent to close at 194.62 points. The transportation sector index remained flat to settle at 1,026.57 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
