Cote D’Ivoire Equity Markets | 3 Sep 2015: BRVM equity markets close lower, Agriculture sectors biggest loser
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 294.79 to 291.73 points, a drop of 1.04 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.82 percent to 292.79 against 295.20 points previously.
The equity market capitalization plummeted by XOF 59 billion (about US$101 million) to close at XOF 7,225 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,284 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 138,720 traded stocks relative to 113,150 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 961.234 million (against XOF 1,871 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 260 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo with 91,877 traded securities (accounted for almost 66 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 416.698 million contributing about 43 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 6.00 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.47.
Out of the 28 traded securities today, 5 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 10 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover by soaring by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 56,975. BANK OF AFRICA NIGER surged by 0.61 percent at XOF 83,000 and SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 92,000 after jumping by 0.54 percent. BICI COTE D’IVOIRE share price surged by 0.49 percent to close at XOF 91,500 and SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 170,000 with 0.03 percent gains.
On the losers’ table, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 6.67 percent to settle at XOF 28,000 as the biggest loser and BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO declined by 3.63 percent to close at XOF 106,000. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 3.33 percent to close at XOF 14,500 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE lost 2.05 percent to trade at XOF 71,500. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 26,500 after declining by 1.85 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index declined by 0.41 percent at 163.72 points and public utilities sector index plunged by 0.70 percent to end at 791.91 points. The distribution sector index sagged by 0.75 percent to end at 557.07 points and financial services sector index decreased by 1.16 percent to end at 107.81 points. Agriculture sector index gave up 1.63 percent to trade at 195.01 points. Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 and Transportation sector index remained steady at 925.22points.
