Cote D’Ivoire Equity Markets | 30 Sep 2015: BRVM Equity Markets in the North Pole, Investors pocket US$53 Mill
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 297.32 to 299.03 points, a gain of 0.58 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.47 percent at 298.06 points against 296.68 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 34 billion (about US$53 million) to close at XOF 7,355 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,321 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 141,189 traded stocks relative to 548,927 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 814.734 million (against XOF 874.604 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 225 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 111,344 traded securities (accounted for about 78.86 percent of the total volume). UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 380.396 million contributing nearly 46.69 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 32.15 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.88.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 30 traded securities today, 15 stocks experienced price gains, 6 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer by adding 7.49 percent to end at XOF 30,640. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 7.49 percent at XOF 287,000 and SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 48,375 after adding 6.32 percent. NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 4.26 percent to close at XOF 49,000 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 14,495 after surging by 3.54 percent.
Conversely, SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 6.67 percent to settle at XOF 8,400 as the biggest loser and BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO declined by 2.59 percent to trade at XOF 111,000. TOTAL SENEGAL slipped by 1.54 percent to close at XOF 25,600 and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 0.92 percent to trade at XOF 4,850. SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 168,000 after dropping 0.59 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index added 1.29 percent at 162.88 points and public utilities sector index rose by 0.37 percent to end at 826.42 points. Financial services sector index jumped by 0.04 percent to end at 108.10 points and distribution sector index moved up 0.77 percent to end at 549.94 points. The agriculture sector index climbed by 2.13 percent to close at 189.43 points. Transportation sector index crashed by 0.02 percent to settle at 948.54 points and miscellaneous sector index added 6.32 percent to close at 597.22 points.
