Cote D’Ivoire Equity Markets | 7 Sep 2015: BRVM closes higher, investors goes home with US$66 million
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 292.38 to 294.33 points, a gain of 0.67 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.53 percent to 294.72 against 293.17 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 39 billion (about US$66 million) to close at XOF 7,273 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,234 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 55,966 traded stocks relative to 68,421 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 437.012 million (against XOF 817.846 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 33 traded securities via 223 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 36,593 traded securities (accounted for almost 65 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 143.797 million contributing nearly 33 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 2.95 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.51.
Out of the 33 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 7 witnessed price drops and 12 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover after adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 12,700. ONATEL BURKINA FASO jumped by 4.96 percent at XOF 12,700 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 80,995 after climbing by 3.84 percent. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE share price soared by 2.38 percent to close at XOF 14,850 and SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 94,000 with 2.17 percent gains.
On the losers’ table, TOTAL SENEGAL sagged by 3.40 percent to settle at XOF 25,000 as the biggest loser and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE decelerated by 1.85 percent to trade at XOF 26,500. SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 1.67 percent to close at XOF 11,800 and BANK OF AFRICA BENIN fell by 1.63 percent to trade at XOF 124,000. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL settled at XOF 84,505 after declining by 1.16 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index soared by 0.89 percent at 163.51 points and public utilities sector index surged by 0.23 percent to end at 798.99 points. The distribution sector index jumped by 0.68 percent to end at 554.83 points and financial services sector index added 0.91 percent to end at 109.01 points. Agriculture sector index grew by 0.24 percent to trade at 195.51 points. Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 and Transportation sector index remained steady at 925.22points
