Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 03 August 2015: BRVM Bourse close lower, investors lose XOF 29 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) BRVM closed its trading session this Monday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 310.51 to 308.82 points, a drop of 0.54 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.39 percent to 300.05 against 301.22 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 28.76 billion to close at XOF 7,404.13 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,432.89 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was marginally heavy today, with the total volume at 431,234 traded stocks relative to 323,776 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 767.882 million (against XOF 803.103 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 415 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 386,512 traded securities (accounted for about 90 percent of the total volume) with traded value of XOF 32.513 million. ONATEL Burkina Faso recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 363.63 million contributing about 48 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 75.93 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.56.
Among the 32 traded securities today, 6 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witness price drops and 16 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended negative. MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer after gaining 7.44 percent to end at XOF 4,835. It was followed by UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE with an increase of 4.00 percent at XOF 26,000 and then by BICI COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 91,000 by adding 3.77 percent. In the fourth position was AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 1.88 percent to close at XOF 23,000 and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO ended at XOF 56 with 1.82 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the contrary, VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.19 percent to settle at XOF 67,000 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO tumbled by 1.93 percent to close at XOF 12,445. Likewise, SONATEL SENEGAL went down 1.43 percent to close at XOF 27,600 and SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 1.18 percent to close at XOF 168,000. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE also went down by 0.95 percent to trade at XOF 103,500.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.11 percent and financial services sector index added 1.02 percent. Likewise, the transportation sector index rose by 0.13 percent to end at 900.75 points and agriculture sector index advanced by 0.32 percent to close 197.31 points. However, distribution sector index decreased by 0.26 percent to end at 540.47 points and public utilities sector index plunged by 1.38 percent to close at 860.03 points. The miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged at 558.02 points
