Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 10 July 2015: BRVM stock markets close lower … investors loss XOF 32 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 287.46 to 285.57 points, a drop of 0.66%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.46% to 283.81 against 285.11 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also lost XOF 32.1 billion to close at XOF 7,003.26 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,035.34 billion.
The market activity was heavy today with the total volume at 6.333 million shares compared to 2.503 million recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was XOF 804.543 million (against XOF 1,459 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 252 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 6,316,100 traded shares (accounted for nearly 99 percent of the total volume) and also recorded the highest turnover of XOF 366.96 million contributing about 46 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 84.39 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.28.
Looking at the price movers and shakers, out of the 29 traded securities there were 11 price leaders, 12 laggards and 6 remained unchanged, hence market breathe ended negative. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE added 7.50 percent to end at XOF 376,260 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL advanced by 4.23 percent to conclude at XOF 74,000. Likewise, SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE gained 3.39 percent to settle at XOF 30,500 and BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO surged by 1.77 percent with a closing price of XOF 98,005.
On the contrary, among the price shakers were SGB COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 4.55 percent to trade at XOF 105,000 and SONATEL SENEGAL tumbled by 2.00 percent to close at XOF 24,300. Also, BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 1.99 percent to close at XOF 98,500 and 1.84 percent to end at XOF 16,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 0.34 percent and industry sector index slightly added 0.01 percent. Distribution sector index also added 2.22 percent to close 477.84 points. On the contrary, public utilities, transportation and agriculture sector indices lost 1.60 percent, 1.54 percent and 0.06 percent respectively. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 518.52 points.
