Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 307.75 to 308.58 points, a gain of 0.27 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.48 percent to 302.32 against 300.87 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 36 billion (about US$61 million) to close at XOF 7,460 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,424 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 185,067 traded stocks relative to 608,913 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,637 million (against XOF 1,447 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 342 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 114,907 traded securities (accounted for about 62 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 971.695 million contributing about 59 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 26.49 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.30.
Among the 32 traded securities today, 15 stocks experienced price gains, 8 witness price drops and 9 stocks price remained flat relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended positive. SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer by adding 4.73 percent to end at XOF 155,000. Other gainers were UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE with a rise of 3.77 percent at XOF 27,500 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 83,000 by adding 3.74 percent. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL with a price gain of 3.41 percent to close at XOF 81,700 and BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 107,000 with 1.90 percent.
On the losers’ table, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE shrank by 4.55 percent to settle at XOF 21,000 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE decreased by 2.54 percent to close at XOF 23.000. Likewise, TOTAL SENEGAL lost 1.83 percent to close at XOF 26,505 and BANK OF AFRICA BENIN sagged by 1.57 percent to close at XOF 125,000. SODE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 79,995 after giving up 1.24 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index rose by 1.07 percent at 165.69 points and public utilities sector index surged by 0.22 percent to close at 851.87 points. The distribution sector index fell by 0.91 percent to end at 528.64 points but financial services sector index advanced by1.29 percent to end at 109.08 points. The agriculture sector index slightly sagged by 0.01 percent to close at 201.89 points and transportation sector index remained at 877.47 points. The miscellaneous sector indices ended at XOF 559.88 point by losing 0.11 percent.
