Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 14 Aug 2015 : BRVM closes higher today … equity market cap US$27 million up
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 308.58 to 309.56 points, a gain of 0.32 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.22 percent to 302.97 against 302.32 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 16 billion (about US$27 million) to close at XOF 7,476 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,460 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 140,714 traded stocks relative to 185,067 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 890.872 million (against XOF 1,637 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 263 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 118,806 traded securities (accounted for about 84 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 485.353 million contributing about 54 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 20.02 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.24.
Among the 31 traded securities today, 8 stocks experienced price gains, 12 witnessed price drops and 11 stocks price remained flat relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended negative. BANK OF AFRICA BENIN was the top price gainer by adding 3.19 percent to end at XOF 128,900. Other gainers were BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC.COTE D’IVOIRE with a rise of 2.78 percent at XOF 185,000 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL closed at XOF 83,350 by adding 2.02 percent. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with a price gain of 1.69 percent to close at XOF 60 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 15,700 with 1.29 percent gains.
On the losers’ table, SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 5.42 percent to settle at XOF 26,010 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE decreased by 3.38 percent to close at XOF 57.000. Likewise, CIE COTE D’IVOIRE lost 2.41 percent to close at XOF 81,000 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.38 percent to close at XOF 20,500. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 82,010 after losing 2.37 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index sagged by 0.68 percent at 164.57 points and public utilities sector index plunged by 0.16 percent to close at 850.48 points. The distribution sector index fell by 0.16 percent to end at 527.82 points but financial services sector index advanced by1.20 percent to end at 110.39 points. The agriculture sector index slightly sagged by 0.67 percent to close at 200.53 points but transportation sector index surged by 2.72 percent to end at 901.36 points. The miscellaneous sector indices ended at 558.15 points by losing 0.31 percent.
