Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 16 July 2015: BRVM stock markets close higher … added XOF 70 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 291.63 to 295.99 points, a gain of 1.50%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.98% to 290.70 against 287.88 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also added XOF 70 billion to close at XOF 7,173.11 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,103.48 billion.
The market activity was thin today with the total volume at 578,589 shares compared to 2.199 million recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was XOF 2,316 million (against XOF 2,902 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 311 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 495,927 traded shares (accounted for nearly 86 percent of the total volume) and SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 1,616 million contributing about 70 percent of total traded value.
The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 44.01 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.49.
Looking at the price movers and shakers, among the 30 traded securities there were 15 price leaders, 9 laggards and 6 remained unchanged, hence market breathe ended positive. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 6.75 percent to end at XOF 20,400 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO advanced by 5.91 percent to conclude at XOF 9,850. Likewise, SMB COTE D’IVOIRE gained 2.50 percent to settle at XOF 15,900 and SONATEL SENEGAL surged by 2.04 percent with a closing price of XOF 25,005.
On the contrary, among the price shakers were TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 3.38 percent to trade at XOF 415,000 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 2.98 percent to close at XOF 29,105. Also, BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE and BANK OF AFRICA BENIN declined by 2.63 percent to close at XOF 185,005 and 2.17 percent to end at XOF 112,505 respectively.
On the sector front, financial services sector index climbed by 0.45 percent, industry sector index rose by 0.47 percent public utilities sector index surged by 2.24 percent to settle at 774.21 points. However, transportation sector index tumbled by 2.58 percent to close 898.45 points and public utilities sector indices lost 0.13 percent. Transportation sector index also slumped by 2.50 percent, agriculture sector index shrunk by 0.84 and distribution sector index decreased by 0.09 percent. Miscellaneous sector index rose by 1.19 percent to settle at 524.69 points.
