Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 2 July 2015: BRVM Equity markets close on mixed note, market cap XOF 8 billion up, BRVM Composite up but BRVM10 fall
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed the trading session this Thursday on mixed mood, lower than the previous day for BRVM 10 and higher for BRVM Composite. BRVM 10 index decreased from 278.27 to 277.50 points, a drop of 0.28%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.12% to 278.59 against 278.26 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also added XOF 8.03 billion to close at XOF 6,874.27 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,866.24 billion.
The market activity was moderate today with the total volume at 573,717 compared to volume of 576,972 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was at XOF 644.872 million (against XOF 316.647 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities out of the 39 listed stocks. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 551,323 traded shares (accounted for about 96 percent of the total volume) and SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 445.90 million contributing almost 69 percent of total turnover. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 32.10 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 20.94.
In term of the price leaders and laggards, out of the 31 traded securities there were 11 price gainers, 11 laggards and 9 remained unchanged, hence market breathe ended neutral. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE rose by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 79, 550 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 5.41 percent to conclude at XOF 78,000. Likewise, VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 3.16 percent to settle at XOF 62,000 and BOLLORE AF. LOG. COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 2.56 percent with a closing price of XOF 200,000.
On the contrary, SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 7.46 percent to trade at XOF 7,445 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 7.43 percent to close at XOF 361,000. Similarly, NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 7.42 percent to close at XOF 5,550 and 2.38 percent to end at XOF 4,100 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 0.19 percent and transportation surged by 2.48 percent. Likewise, industry and public utilities sector index added 0.33 percent and 0.26 percent respectively. Conversely, agriculture sector index fell by 0.16 percent and distribution sector index went down by 1.74% percent. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 518.52 points.
