Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 23 July 2015: Stocks adds XOF 50 billion in value …benchmark index 0.70% gains
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 294.86 to 297.90 points, a gain of 1.03%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.70% to 292.58 against 290.55 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also added XOF 50 billion to close at XOF 7,219.51 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,169.48 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was thin today, with the total volume at 244, 333 traded stocks compared to 817,470 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,691 million (against XOF 2,186 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 269 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 171,380 traded securities (accounted for about 70 percent of the total volume) and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 685.88 million contributing over 40 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 7.64 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.57.
From the market movers’ perspectives, there were 9 price leaders, 13 laggards and 9 remained unchanged, hence market breathe ended negative. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 26,735 to emerge the top price gainers’ list. The second price gainer was ONATEL BURKINA FASO with 7.49 percent at XOF 10, 265. Likewise, TOTAL SENEGAL climbed by 3.57 percent to settle at XOF 29,000 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 1.79 percent with a closing price of XOF 28,500.
The top laggards was SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE which lost 2.68 percent to trade at XOF 29,000 and then follows by PALM COTE D’IVOIRE closing at XOF 14,500 after falling by 2.03 percent. Still on the losers’ table were VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 1.77 percent to close at XOF 65,325 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo went down by 1.56 percent to close at XOF 63.00.
The industry sector index climbed by 0.59 percent and public utilities sector index rose by 2.01 percent. Likewise, distribution sector index surged by 0.64 percent to close 506.42 points and miscellaneous sector index advanced by 1.82 percent to end at 530.86 points. On the other hand, financial services sector index slumped by 0.86 percent to close at 111.25 points and Agriculture sector index plunged by 1.63 percent to end at 201.54 points. However, Transportation sector index remained flat to close at 901.91 points.
