Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 24 July 2015: BRVM’s stock investors gains XOF 137 billion … BRVM Composite index adds 1.90 percent
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 297.90 to 305.54 points, a gain of 2.56 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 1.90 percent to 298.14 against 292.58 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 137.33 billion to close at XOF 7,356.88 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,219.51 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was thin today, with the total volume at 217, 854 traded stocks compared to 244,333 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,326 million (against XOF 1,691 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 229 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 147 696 traded securities (accounted for nearly 68 percent of the total volume) and ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 562.53 million contributing almost 42 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 4.67 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.48.
Among the 30 traded securities today, 9 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witness price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended negative. ONATEL BURKINA FASO was the top price gainer after gaining 7.45 percent to end at XOF 11,030. It was followed by BOLLORE AF. LOG. COTE D’IVOIRE with an increase of 6.74 percent at XOF 198,000 and then by SONATEL SENEGAL closed at XOF 26,800 by adding 5.10 percent. In the fourth position was CIE COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 1.92 percent to close at XOF 79,500 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 66,500 with 1.80 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the contrary, SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 74,925 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 1.86 to close at XOF74,000. Similarly, SMB COTE D’IVOIRE lost 2.44 percent to close at XOF 15,600 and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 1.82 percent to close at XOF 27,000. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo also went down by 1.59 percent to trade at XOF 62.00.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the public utilities sector index gained by 4.85 percent and transportation sector index added 6.62 percent. The agriculture sector index marginally rose by 0.02 percent to end at 201.62 points. However, industry sector index sagged by 0.83 percent to close 162.4 points and financial services sector index declined by 1.01 percent to end at 110.13 points. Likewise, the distribution sector index lost 0.49 percent to close at 503.94 points but miscellaneous sector index remained flat to close at 530.86 points.
