Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 27 July 2015: Bull visits the BRVM bourse, market cap XOF 140 billion and BRVM composite index 1.91% up
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 305.54 to 315.18 points, a gain of 3.16 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 1.91 percent to 303.83 against 298.14 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 140.34 billion to close at XOF 7,497.22 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,356.88 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was a bit heavy today, with the total volume at 314,575 traded stocks compared to 217, 854 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,654 million (against XOF 1,326 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 497 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 205,573 traded securities (accounted for about 65 percent of the total volume) and SONATEL Senegal recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 760.61 million contributing almost 29 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 10.47 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.53.
Among the 30 traded securities today, 9 stocks experienced price gains, 12 witness price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended negative. SONATEL SENEGAL was the top price gainer after gaining 7.50 percent to end at XOF 28,810. It was followed by ONATEL BURKINA FASO with an increase of 7.48 percent at XOF 11,855 and then by TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 22,500 by adding 7.14 percent. In the fourth position was AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 1.40 percent to close at XOF 20,280 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 15,800 with 1.28 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the contrary, BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 6.57 percent to settle at XOF 185,000 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo tumbled by 6.35 to close at XOF 58. Similarly, SODE COTE D’IVOIRE lost 5.41 percent to close at XOF 70,000 and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.63 percent to close at XOF 87,695. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE also went down by 2.68 percent to trade at XOF 101,015.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the public utilities sector index gained by 6.70 percent and distribution sector index added 2.59 percent. However, the agriculture sector index marginally fell by 0.16 percent to end at 201.29 points and industry sector index sagged by 0.11 percent to close 162.19 points. The financial services sector index declined by 4.15 percent to end at 105.56 points and the transportation sector index decreased by 6.45 percent to end at 899.52 points. But, miscellaneous sector index remained flat to close at 530.86 points.
