Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 29 June 2015: BRVM Equity markets higher today, market cap XOF 69 billion up
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 273.72 to 277.26 points, a gain of 1.29%. BRVM Composite index gained 1.02% to 277.32 against 274.53 points previously. Likewise, the equity market capitalization gained XOF 68.87 billion to close at XOF 6,842.93 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,774.06 billion.
The market activity was thin today with the total volume at 279,929 compared to volume of 63,631 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was at XOF 414.087 million (against XOF 367.415 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 27 traded securities through 200 deals. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 262,340 traded shares (accounted for about 94 percent of the total volume) with turnover of XOF 14.167 million and SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest turnover of XOF 125.373 million (accounted for almost 31 percent of total turnover) exchanged in 5,289 securities. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 27.26 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.64.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 27 traded securities there were 17 price leaders, 3 laggards and 7 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end at positive. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 6.85 percent to end at XOF 30,990 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 5.11 percent to conclude at XOF 18,500. Likewise, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 3.12 percent to settle at XOF 16,500 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE added 2.39 percent with a closing price of XOF 107,000.
On the contrary, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.23 percent to trade at XOF 400,000 and TOTAL SENEGAL tumbled by 0.72 percent to close at XOF 27,005. Similarly, ONATEL BURKINA FASO declined by 0.53 percent to close at XOF 9,450.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 1.44 percent, transportation surged by 0.58 percent and industry sector index went up by 0.52 percent. Likewise, public utilities sector index rose 1.05 percent and agriculture sector index increased by 3.17 percent. On the contrary, distribution sector index somersaulted by -0.44 percent and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 518.52 points.
