Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 30 July 2015: BRVM Bourse close higher, market cap gains XOF 22 Bio
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 308.77 to 309.91 points, a gain of 0.37 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.29 percent to 300.46 against 299.58 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 22.14 billion to close at XOF 7,414.46 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,392.32 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was weaker today, with the total volume at 689,668 traded stocks relative to 203,893 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,899 million (against XOF 1,719 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 415 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 600,536 traded securities (accounted for about 87 percent of the total volume) with traded value of XOF 32.513 million. SONATEL Senegal recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 736.88 million contributing almost 39 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 50.22 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.73.
Among the 30 traded securities today, 14 stocks experienced price gains, 7 witness price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended negative. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer after gaining 6.67 percent to end at XOF 80,000. It was followed by FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE with an increase of 5.25 percent at XOF 29,995 and then by AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 21,000 by adding 3.55 percent. In the fourth position was PALM COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 3.31 percent to close at XOF 14,995 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 24,000 with 2.13 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the contrary, SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 3.96 percent to settle at XOF 12,000 and UNIWAX D’IVOIRE tumbled by 3.70 to close at XOF 26,000. Likewise, NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE went down 2.53 percent to close at XOF 5,000 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 1.21 percent to close at XOF 28,155. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE also went down by 1.16 percent to trade at XOF 82,350.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the public utilities sector index surged by 0.12 percent and financial services sector index plunged by 0.31 percent. Likewise, the industry sector index rose by 0.12 percent to end at 161.46 points and agriculture sector index advanced by 0.19 percent to close 199.83 points. Similarly, distribution sector index increased by 1.35 percent to end at 530.53 points. The miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged at 555.56 points and transportation sector index remained flat to close at 899.52 points.
