Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 4 Aug 2015: BRVM gears on bullish trends, composite index gains 0.31% and XOF 23 billion market cap gains
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 308.82 to 309.17 points, a gain of 0.11 percent and BRVM Composite index gained 0.31 percent to 300.99 against 300.05 points previously.
The equity market capitalization surged by XOF 23 billion to close at XOF 7,427 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,404 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was thinner today, with the total volume at 111,554 traded stocks relative to 431,234 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,320 million (against XOF 767.882 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 371 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 62,659 traded securities (accounted for about 56 percent of the total volume) with traded value of XOF 3.509 million. SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 610.73 million contributing about 46 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 28.47 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.97.
Among the 28 traded securities today, 16 stocks experienced price gains, 4 witness price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended positive. SODE COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer after gaining 7.50 percent to end at XOF 77,400. It was followed by BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL with an increase of 7.50 percent at XOF 81,710 and then by SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 8,615 by adding 7.49 percent. In the fourth position was FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 5.00 percent to close at XOF 31,500 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 107,000 with 3.38 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the contrary, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 6.88 percent to settle at XOF 22,815 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 3.72 percent to close at XOF 15,000. Likewise, SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE went down 1.67 percent to close at XOF 11,800 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 0.55 percent to close at XOF 28,000.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.76 percent and financial services sector index added 0.95 percent. Likewise, the public utilities sector index rose by 0.57 percent to end at 864.92 points. However, distribution sector index decreased by 0.86 percent to end at 524.99 points and agriculture sector index plunged by 0.42 percent to close at 196.49 points. The transportation and miscellaneous sector indices remained unchanged to close at 900.75 and 558.02 respectively.
