Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 05 Aug 2015: BRVM Bourse close higher, investors add XOF 52 billion, index rises
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 309.17 to 312.28 points, a gain of 1.01 percent and BRVM Composite index gained 0.70 percent to 303.09 against 300.99 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 52 billion to close at XOF 7,479 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,427 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was marginally heavy today, with the total volume at 1,047,379 traded stocks relative to 111,554 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 577.809 million (against XOF 1,320 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 272 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 1,027,855 traded securities (accounted for about 98 percent of the total volume) with traded value of XOF 57.569 million. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 123.60 million contributing about 21 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 74.75 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.27.
Among the 30 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witness price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price, hence market strength ended positive. SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE was the top price gainer after gaining 7.49 percent to end at XOF 9,260. It was followed by Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with an increase of 7.14 percent at XOF 60 and then by UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 27,000 by adding 3.85 percent. In the fourth position was NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE with a price gain of 3.51 percent to close at XOF 59,000 and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 5,000 with 3.41 percent to become the fifth gainer of the day.
On the contrary, BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL fell by 5.76 percent to settle at XOF 77,005 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 4.11 percent to close at XOF 14,000. Likewise, SGB COTE D’IVOIRE went down 3.74 percent to close at XOF 103,000 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 0.90 percent to close at XOF 22,619. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE also went down by 0.75 percent to trade at XOF 66,500.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.85 percent and financial services sector index added 2.76 percent. Likewise, the transportation sector index rose by 0.07 percent to end at 901.36 points and miscellaneous sector index advanced by 0.22 percent to close 559.26 points. However, distribution sector index decreased by 0.34 percent to end at 523.20 points and public utilities sector index plunged by 0.90 percent to close at 864.16 points. The agriculture sector index also reduced by 1.78 percent at 193 points
