Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 7 July 2015: BRVM Equity market indices close higher … market cap XOF 62.29 Bill up
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 277.71 to 281.48 points, a gain of 1.36%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.91% to 280.75 against 278.23 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also added XOF 62.29 billion to close at XOF 6,927.77 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,865.48 billion.
The market activity was moderate today with the total volume at 2,644,104 shares compared to 1,075,728 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was XOF 1,885 million (against XOF 1,337 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 26 traded securities out of the 39 listed stocks. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 2,588,869 traded shares (accounted for nearly 98 percent of the total volume) and FILTISAC COTE D’Ivoire recorded the highest turnover of XOF 1,176 million contributing about 62 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 72.00 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.27.
Looking at the price movers and shakers, out of the 26 traded securities there were 11 price leaders, 10 laggards and 5 remained unchanged, hence market breathe ended positive. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL gained 5.68 percent to end at XOF 74,000 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE rose by 2.14 percent to conclude at XOF 106,000. Likewise, SONATEL SENEGAL advanced by 2.06 percent to settle at XOF 24,800 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo surged by 1.89 percent with a closing price of XOF 54.00.
Among the price shakers were TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 7.50 percent to trade at XOF 214,665 and Unilever COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 7.41 percent to close at XOF 25,000. Also, BANK OF AFRICA BENIN and TOTAL SENEGAL declined by 3.47 percent to close at XOF 111,005 and 1.71 percent to end at XOF 29,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 0.92 percent and public utilities surged by 1.55 percent. Agriculture sector index also gained 1.32 percent to close 214.71 points. On the contrary, industry, transportation and distribution sector indices lost 0.19 percent and 0.20 percent and 0.58 percent respectively. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 518.52 points.
