Cote d’Ivoire Equity Watch | 9 July 2015: BRVM equity market cap over XOF 7 trillion … BRVM Composite index gains 128bps
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 282.38 to 287.46 points, a gain of 1.80%. BRVM Composite index gained 1.28% to 285.11 against 281.51 points previously.
The equity market capitalization also added XOF 89 billion to close at XOF 7,035.34 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,946.33 billion.
The market activity was heavy today with the total volume at 2.503 million shares compared to 59,258 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was XOF 1,459 million (against XOF 510.152 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities out of the 39 listed stocks. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 2.4278 million traded shares (accounted for nearly 97 percent of the total volume) and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 606.24 million contributing about 42 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 97.79 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.25.
Looking at the price movers and shakers, out of the 28 traded securities there were 12 price leaders, 11 laggards and 5 remained unchanged, hence market breathe ended positive. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION surged by 5.36 percent to end at XOF 59.00 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO advanced by 3.69 percent to conclude at XOF 9.700. Likewise, BICI COTE D’IVOIRE gained 2.75 percent to settle at XOF 90,010 and SONATEL SENEGAL surged by 1.97 percent with a closing price of XOF 24,795.
Among the price shakers were CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 7.49 percent to trade at XOF 29,095 and NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 7.48 percent to close at XOF 5,130. Also, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 6.97 percent to close at XOF 29,500 and 5.98 percent to end at XOF 110,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 1.93 percent and public utilities surged by 1.92 percent. On the contrary, industry, transportation and distribution sector indices lost 0.60 percent, 0.74 percent and 0.34 percent respectively. Agriculture sector index added 0.60 percent to close 214.71 points. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 518.52 points.
