Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 12th 2015: BRVM equities market cap lost XOF 27 billion today
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 274.84 to 274.07 points, a drop of 0.28%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.39% to 273.95 against 275.02 points previously. At the same time, the equity market capitalization lost XOF 26.31 billion to close at XOF 6,759.87 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6786.18 billion.
Looking at the market activity, the total volume was recorded at 325,690 compared to volume of 28,824 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 891.652 million (against XOF 711.592 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 securities via 280 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 290,821 traded shares (accounted for about 90 percent of the total volume) and SOCIETE GENERALE COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 330.89 million (accounted for 37percent of total turnover). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 22.36 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.46.
In term of the shakers and laggards, out of the 31 traded securities there were 8 price gainers, 8 laggards and 15 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end neutral. The price shakers were SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 40,850 and CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.49 percent to conclude at XOF 23,450. Likewise, BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTICS COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 7.32 percent to settle at XOF 198,000 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE added 1.88 percent with a closing price of XOF 16,300.
On the laggards table, SOCIETE GENERALE COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 6.43 percent to trade at XOF 29,000 and CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 6.24 percent to close at XOF 67,505. Still on losers’ chart, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 4.55 percent and 4.11 percent to close at XOF 325,000 and XOF 70,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, public utilities sector index tumbled by 0.41 percent and agriculture sector index went down by 1.77 percent. On the other hand, industry sector index surged by 0.19 percent and transportation sector index rose by 2.28 percent. While financial services sector index and miscellaneous sector index remained flat.
