Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 19th 2015: BRVM Equity markets end in negative region, down by XOF 35 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 271.79 to 270.71 points, a drop of 0.40%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.52% to 272.62 against 274.05 points previously. In the same way, the equity market capitalization down by XOF 35.25 billion to close at XOF 6,727.07 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,762.32 billion.
The market activity was thin today with the total volume at 789,950 compared to volume of 3.320 million recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was at XOF 3,368 million (against XOF 1,142 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities through 278 deals. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 680,355 traded shares (accounted for about 86 percent of the total volume) and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 1,727 million (accounted for almost 52 percent of total turnover). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 34.99 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.67.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 31 traded securities there were 7 price gainers, 13 laggards and 10 remained flat, hence market breathe end at negative. SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 45,150 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 7.50 percent to conclude at XOF 65,200. Likewise, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE appreciated by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 263,480 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE added 7.49 percent with a closing price of XOF 344,000.
On the contrary, AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE lost 7.37 percent to trade at XOF 17,600 and TOTAL SENEGAL fell by 7.00 percent to close at XOF 27,900. Similarly, BICI COTE D’IVOIRE and SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 4.34 percent (to close at XOF 85,615) and 4.24 percent (to close at XOF 105,000) respectively.
From sector viewpoint, agriculture sector index tumbled by 0.16 percent, public utilities fell by 0.89 percent and financial services sector index went down by 0.36 percent. On the contrary, industry sector index rose 0.19 percent to close at 168,6 p points and distribution sector index climbed by 0.39 percent and miscellaneous sector index grew by 7.50 percent.
