Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 23rd 2015: BRVM Equity markets lower today, market cap XOF 14 billion down
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 272.20 to 270.83 points, a drop of 0.50%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.21% to 273.55 against 274.12 points previously. In the same way, the equity market capitalization lost XOF 14.20 billion to close at XOF 6,749.89 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,764.09 billion.
The market activity was thin today with the total volume at 821,937 compared to volume of 36,927 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was at XOF 508.404 million (against XOF 561.74 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities through 220 deals. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 810,984 traded shares (accounted for about 99 percent of the total volume) and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 186.66 million (accounted for almost 37 percent of total turnover). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 51.27 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.70.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 29 traded securities there were 11 price gainers, 10 laggards and 8 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end at negative. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.48 percent to end at XOF 404,400 and BANK AFRICA BENIN climbed by 3.60 percent to conclude at XOF 115,000. Likewise, ONATEL BURKINA FASO advanced by 2.30 percent to settle at XOF 8,900 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE added 0.38 percent with a closing price of XOF 26,500.
On the contrary, NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 7.50 percent to trade at XOF 54,575 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 7.49 percent to close at XOF 15,680. Similarly, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 3.57 percent to close at XOF 27,000 and 3.45 percent to end at XOF 70,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, financial services sector index climbed by 0.25 percent, transportation surged by 0.30 percent and distributions sector index went up by 2.55 percent. Likewise, distributions sector index rose 2.25 percent and miscellaneous sector index increased by 7.50 percent. On the contrary, industry and public utilities somersaulted by 1.26 percent and 0.52 percent respectively. However, miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to end at 599.2 points.
