Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | May 12th 2015: BRVM gained XOF 7.7 billion today
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session today, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 271.35 to 272.34 points, a gain of 0.36%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.11% to 262.47 against 262.17 points previously. The equity market capitalization closed at XOF 6, 476.67 billion compared to XOF 6,469.11 billion recorded an increase of XOF 7.56 billion to previously trading session.
Looking at the market activities, the total volume traded was recorded at 534,295 and total traded value was recorded at XOF 584.79 million changing hands 202 deals. The day top security by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo with 511,910 traded volume (accounting for almost 96% of total traded shares) and by value was Sonatel Senegal with a XOF XOF 425.49 million total traded value (accounted for almost 73% of total traded value).
The market liquidity measured as ratio of total volume traded to ask orders volume, was recorded at 20.91 percent. Whereas liquidity measured as ratio of turnover to market cap was 9.0 percent. The average price earnings ratio settled at 28.47.
In term of the market breathe, the market ended on a positive note with 10 gainers and 5 lowers. The top movers were Servair Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire (gained 7.50 percent to close at XOF 55,470), Société Multinationale des Bitumes (SMB) Cote d’Ivoire (accelerated by 6.19 percent to trade at XOF 103,000), Bernabe Afrique Cote d’Ivoire (appreciated by 5.00 percent with closing price of XOF 83,000) and Onatel Burkina Faso (advanced by 0.24 percent to close at XOF 8,220). From the laggard perspectives, Uniwax Cote d’Ivoire lost 5.26 percent to close at XOF 18,000 and Bank of Africa, Benin gave up 4.58 percent to end at XOF 114,500). In addition, Nestle Cote d’Ivoire and Filtisac Cote d’Ivoire both went down by 4.17 percent and 1.75 percent with closing price of XOF 46,000 and XOF 28,000 respectively.
The financial sector advanced by 0.69 percent, follow by the distribution sector with an increase of 0.38 percent. Similarly, the public utilities sector marginally advanced by 0.02 percent and 0.04 percent respectively. While Industry sector index dropped 1.02 percent to close at 157.95 points, as a result of drop in Nestle Cote d’Ivoire and Filtisac Cote d’Ivoire and Air Liquide Cote d’Ivoire. Likewise, the transportation sector went down by 0.01 percent (due to fall in the price of Bollore Africa Logistic Cote d’Ivoire by 0.01 percent.
