Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | May 15th 2015: BRVM shed XOF 11bn..
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 272.91 to 272.57 points, a drop of 0.12%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.17% to 262.57 against 263.03 points previously. The equity market capitalization was recorded at XOF 6,479 billion, a decrease of XOF 11 billion compared to previous trading session.
Looking at the market activities, the total volume traded was recorded at 401 714 and total traded value was recorded at XOF 405.76 million (against XOF 473.47 million previous trading day) exchanging hands in 21 securities of out 39 listed securities through 160 number of transactions. The day top security by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo with 380,522 traded shares and by value was SAPH Cote d’Ivoire with a XOF 133.87 million total traded value.
Market breathes ended on a positive note with 8 gainers and 7 losers. The top gainers were Uniwax Cote d’Ivoire (gained 3.95 percent to close at XOF 18,400), Nestle Cote d’Ivoire (appreciated 2.17 percent to close at XOF 47,000), FILTISAC Cote d’Ivoire (advanced 1.61 percent to close at XOF 28,450), Bank of Africa Senegal (surge 1.53 percent to close at XOF 66,500) and Air Liquide Cote d’Ivoire (rose by 0.55 percent to close at XOF 22,925). On the other hand, topping the losers’ were Bank of Africa Benin declined by 3.93 percent to trade at XOF 110,000 and Servair Abidjan Cote d’Ivoire fell by 3.43 percent to close at XOF 56,000. Also, SAPH Cote d’Ivoire and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo declined by 2.99 percent and 1.75 percent to close at XOF 13,000 and XOF 56 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, industry sector index advanced by 0.65 percent and public utilities sector gained 0.32 percent. Whereas the financial services sectors lost 1.17 percent (due to decrease in Bank of Africa Benin, BICI Cote d’Ivoire and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo), agriculture sector index fell by 0.75 and distribution sector index declined by 0.23 percent.
