Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | May 27th 2015: BRVM adds XOF 48bn, index gains 0.73%
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 273.41 to 275.04 points, a gain of 0.60%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.73% to 268.32 against 266.38 points previously. The equity market capitalization was recorded at XOF 6,621.05 billion compared to XOF 6,503.90 billion previously (an increase of almost XOF 48 billion).
From market activity perspectives, the total volume traded was recorded at 139,993 (decreased by 87% compared to yesterday’s volume) and total traded value was recorded at XOF 756.179 million (against XOF 1,802.165 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanging hands in 32 shares out of 39 listed securities via 280 transactions. The day top security by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 96,122 traded shares and by value was ONATEL Burkina Faso with a XOF 215.13 million traded value.
Looking at the market breathes, it ended positive with 19 gainers and 6 losers. The top gainers were SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE (gained 7.50 percent to close at XOF 40,850), UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIR (appreciated 7.50 percent to close at XOF 21,000), TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE (advanced 7.50 percent to close at XOF 262,710), NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE (surged by 7.45 percent to close at XOF 5,480) and TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE (rose by 7.26 percent to close at XOF 207,000). On the other hand, topping the losers’ were AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 7.49 percent to trade at XOF 20,815 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 3.51 percent to close at XOF 55,000. Also, BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 2.63 percent and 0.90 percent to close at XOF 92,500 and XOF 55,000 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, all the sector indices ended in a positive territory. Distribution sector index went up by 21.11 percent and miscellaneous sector index advanced by 7.5 percent. Also, financial services sector index gained 0.20 percent, public utilities sector index advanced by 0.63 percent and industry sectors gained 1.10 percent. In addition, agriculture index surged by 2.11 percent and transportation index went up by 0.01 percent.
