Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 300.21 to 298.37 points, a drop of 0.61 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.40 percent at 302.45 points against 303.65 points previously.
The equity market capitalization dropped XOF 29 billion (about US$49 million) to close at XOF 7,463 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,493 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 627,408 traded stocks relative to 68,991 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 5,448.155 million (against XOF 1,177.488 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 262 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ONATEL BURKINA FASO with 312,771 traded securities (accounted for about 49.85 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 4,035.315 million contributing nearly 74.07 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 70.32 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.40.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 31 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price upward zone, CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 3.48 percent to end at XOF 30,000. SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 2.86 percent at XOF 180,000 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 130,000 after adding 2.34 percent. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 1.52 percent to close at XOF 26,395 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 81,600 by gaining 0.74 percent.
In the downward district, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE lost 7.07 percent to settle at XOF 26,202 as the biggest loser and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE slacked by 6.37 percent to close at XOF 75,000. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 5.64 percent to close at XOF 125,505. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.44 percent to settle at XOF 100,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 1.50 percent to trade at XOF 23o0,00-.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index rose by 0.16 percent at 164.66 points but public utilities sector index sagged by 0.02 percent to end at 827.46 points. Financial services sector index fell by 1.18 percent to end at 108.49 points and distribution sector index dropped 0.35 percent to end at 588.35 points. The agriculture sector index rose by 0.36 percent to close at 188.40 points. The transportation sector index rose by 1.48 percent to settle at 1,113.36 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
