Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 298.37 to 299.06 points, a gain of 0.23 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.39 percent at 303.64 points against 302.45 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 29 billion (about US$49 million) to close at XOF 7,493 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,463 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 410,699 traded stocks relative to 627,408 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 5,278.737 million (against XOF 5,448.155 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 27 traded securities via 256 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ONATEL BURKINA FASO with 319,895 traded securities (accounted for about 77.9 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 4,266.983 million contributing nearly 80.8 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 44.00 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.51.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 27 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 8 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price green zone, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price movers after advancing by 7.49 percent to close at XOF 27,970. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 6.67 percent to end at XOF 32,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 240,000 after gaining 4.35 percent. ONATEL BURKINA FASO share price climbed by 4.30 percent to close at XOF 13,350 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 77,400 after increasing by 3.19 percent.
In the downward district, BANK OF AFRICA NIGER dropped 3.45 percent to trade at XOF 84,000 as the biggest loser and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 2.19 percent to close at XOF 78,005. BICI COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 2.00 percent to close at XOF 98,000. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL plummeted by 1.96 percent to end at XOF 80,000 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 1.27 percent to settle at XOF 23,400.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index gained 2.07 percent at 168.07 points and public utilities sector index added 0.26 percent to end at 829.65 points. Financial services sector index sagged by 0.44 percent to end at 108.01 points and distribution sector index advanced 0.18 percent to close at 589.43 points. The agriculture sector index surged by 0.09 percent to close at 188.57 points. The transportation sector index jumped by 4.20 percent to settle at 1,161.10 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
