Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 304 to 302.38 points, a drop of 0.53 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.45 percent at 301.28 points against 302.63 points previously.
The equity market capitalization sagged by XOF 33.53 billion (about US$58 million) to close at XOF 7,434 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,468 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 83,275 traded stocks relative to 37,725 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,693.667 million (against XOF 1,948.188 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 308 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ONATEL BURKINA FASO with 40,334 traded securities (accounted for about 48.43 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 508.579 million contributing nearly18.88 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 5.51 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.25.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 32 traded securities today, 8 stocks experienced price gains, 18 witnessed price drops and 6 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price advancers by gaining 2.38 percent to end at XOF 25,595. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 1.30 percent at XOF 294,800 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 82,000 after gaining 1.23 percent. BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE share price jumped by 0.51 percent to close at XOF 196,000 and TOTAL SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 26,600 after rising by 0.38 percent.
On the contrary, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 6.71 percent to settle at XOF 27,500 as the biggest loser and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 5.45 percent to trade at XOF 26,000. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 3.33 percent to close at XOF 14,500 and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 3.19 percent to trade at XOF 4,250. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 30,300 after losing 2.88 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 1.23 percent at 161.95 points and public utilities sector index lost 0.36 percent to end at 835.56 points. Also, financial services sector index slumped by 0.19 percent to end at 109.78 points and distribution sector index jumped 0.08 percent to end at 558.93 points. The agriculture sector index declined by 3.58 percent to close at 191.65 points and transportation sector index added 0.45 percent to settle at 951.11 points while miscellaneous sector index slacked by 1.85 percent to close at 638.27 points.
