Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 295.58 to 294.10 points, a drop of 0.50 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.23 percent to 294.60 against 295.29 points previously.
The equity market capitalization sagged by XOF 18 billion (about US$31 million) to close at XOF 7,269 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,287 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 33,940 traded stocks relative to 119,855 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 320.921 million (against XOF 1,839.834 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 222 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 18,642 traded securities (accounted for about 55 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 87.724 million contributing nearly 27 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 1.79 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.25.
Out of the 32 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover after gaining 2.56 percent to end at XOF 160,000. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 1.82 percent at XOF 83,500 and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL traded at XOF 85,500 after climbing by 1.79 percent. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE share price surged by 1.36 percent to close at XOF 95,800 and BANK OF AFRICA BENIN closed at XOF 123,000 with 0.82 percent gains.
On the losers’ table, MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 5.00 percent to settle at XOF 4,750 as the biggest loser and UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.65 percent to trade at XOF 25,050. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 2.27 percent to close at XOF 29,000 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 1.82 percent to trade at XOF 54,000. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO settled at XOF 55 after declining by 1.79 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.31 percent at 164.73 points but public utilities sector index grew by 0.12 percent to end at 805.04 points. The distribution sector index fell by 0.33 percent to end at 547.82 points and financial services sector index sagged by 0.76 percent to end at 107.63 points. Agriculture sector index slumped by 0.20 percent to trade at 197.03 points. Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 but Transportation sector ended at 925.22 points after losing 0.10 percent.
