Cote D’Ivoire Stock Markets | 11 Nov 2015: Equity ends in the north zone, investors US$50 million richer ….
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 298.17 to 299.13 points, a gain of 0.32 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.40 percent at 304.75 points against 303.53 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 30 billion (about US$50 million) to close at XOF 7,520 billion relatively to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,490 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 134,120 traded stocks relative to 68,596 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 3,475.870 million (against XOF 1,340.714 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 27 traded securities via 270 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 59,225 traded securities (accounted for about 44.2 percent of the total volume). FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 871.745 million contributing nearly 25.1 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 34.49 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.74.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 27 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price gainers, CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers after adding 6.67 percent to end at XOF 32,000. MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE surged 6.67 percent to trade at XOF 4,800 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 84,900 by adding 2.91 percent. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE share price surged by 2.87 percent to close at XOF 400,000 and BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO with a closing price of XOF 118,100 after gaining 2.70 percent.
In the negative region, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.57 percent to close at XOF 13,500 as the biggest price losers and TOTAL SENEGAL slipped by 2.54 percent to close at XOF 26,250. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE skid by 1.73 percent to close at XOF 23,000. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 0.83 percent to end at XOF 24,000 and BANK OF AFRICA BENIN shed off 0.79 percent to settle at XOF 125,000.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index gained 0.24 percent at 168.46 points and public utilities sector index rose by 0.27 percent to end at 832.26 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.99 percent to end at 107.85 points, but distribution sector index declined by 0.56 percent to end at 592.43 points. The agriculture sector index dropped 1.77 percent to close at 183.79 points. The transportation sector index rose by 2.65 percent to settle at 1,246.68 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 650.31 points.
