Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 294.10 to 292.94 points, a drop of 0.39 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.29 percent to 293.74 against 294.60 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 21 billion (about US$36 million) to close at XOF 7,248 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,269 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 170,193 traded stocks relative to 33,940 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,427.957 million (against XOF 320.921 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 233 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 124,205 traded securities (accounted for about 73 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 658.866 million contributing nearly 46 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 8.57 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.29.
Out of the 32 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price loser after losing 3.43 percent to end at XOF 28,035. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 1.97 percent at XOF 14,700 and TOTAL SENEGAL traded at XOF 25,500 after sagging by 1.92 percent. ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO share price dropped by 1.82 percent to close at XOF 54.00 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 26,500 with 1.82 percent drops.
On the gainers’ table, SODE COTE D’IVOIRE gained 2.50 percent to settle at XOF 82,000 as the biggest gainer and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 1.66 percent to trade at XOF 24,150. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 1.28 percent to close at XOF 71,400 and SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 1.22 percent to trade at XOF 8.300. BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO settled at XOF 108,000 after adding 0.93 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.64 percent at 163.68 points and public utilities sector index fell by 0.06 percent to end at 804.58 points. The distribution sector index rose by 0.65 percent to end at 551.39 points but financial services sector index sagged by 0.76 percent to end at 107.81 points. Agriculture sector index slumped by 1.38 percent to trade at 194.31 points. Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 but Transportation sector remained steady at 925.22 points.
