Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 303.32 to 300.67 points, a drop of 0.87%. BRVM Composite index lost 0.61% at 300.15 points against 301.99 points previously.
The equity market capitalization fall by XOF 45.51 billion (about US$78 million) to close at XOF 7,406 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,452 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 255,558 traded stocks relative to 53,795 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,320.086 million (against XOF 1,949.922 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 28 traded securities via 235 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Togo with 179,370 traded securities (accounted for about 70.19 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 562.409 million contributing nearly 24.24 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 19.00 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.21.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 28 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 5 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price advancers by gaining 2.94 percent to end at XOF 17,500. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 1.92 percent at XOF 323,000 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 72,000 after adding 1.40 percent. NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE share price climbed by 1.02 percent to close at XOF 49,500 and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 103,000 after rising by 0.98 percent.
On the contrary, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE dipped by 3.27 percent to settle at XOF 14,800 as the biggest loser and BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE slacked by 1.96 percent to trade at XOF 117,650. TOTAL SENEGAL sagged by 1.87 percent to close at XOF 26,000 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 1.63 percent to trade at XOF 120,000. ONATEL SENEGAL traded at XOF 26,000 after losing 1.29 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index grew by 0.20 percent at 161.97 points but public utilities sector index fell by 1.04 percent to end at 830.15 points. Also, financial services sector index sagged by 0.39 percent to end at 109.45 points but distribution sector index added by 0.08 percent to end at 557.92 points. The agriculture sector index declined by 1.82 percent to close at 193.57 points but transportation sector index gained 0.05 percent to settle at 946.80 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
