Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 302.42 to 303.81 points, a gain of 0.46 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.35 percent at 303.26 points against 302.20 points previously.
The equity market capitalization rose by XOF 26 billion (about US$45 million) to close at XOF 7,483 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,457 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 73,047 traded stocks relative to 71,787 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,001.661 million (against XOF 756.319 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 34 traded securities via 285 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ONATEL BURKINA FASO with 21,560 traded securities (accounted for about 29.52 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 280.378 million contributing nearly 14.01 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 5.79 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.53.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 34 traded securities today, 13 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price advancers by adding 7.50 percent to end at XOF 86,795. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 5.26 percent at XOF 30,000 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO ended at XOF 13,600 after gaining 4.49 percent. SMB COTE D’IVOIRE share price jumped by 2.70 percent to close at XOF 19,000 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 21,000 after rising by 2.44 percent.
On the contrary, UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE dropped 6.25 percent to settle at XOF 24,000 as the biggest loser and TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 4.82 percent to trade at XOF 307,430. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 2.99 percent to close at XOF 26,000 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE lower by 2.00 percent to trade at XOF 196,000. BICI COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 101,000 after dropping 1.94 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index grew by 0.89 percent at 164.12 points and public utilities sector index rose by 0.50 percent to end at 834.31 points. Also, financial services sector index surged by 0.05 percent to end at 110.86 points and distribution sector index gained 1.00 percent to end at 571.55 points. The agriculture sector index declined by 0.88 percent to close at 196.84 points and transportation sector index lost 1.97 percent to settle at 950.20 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
