Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 292.94 to 294.05 points, a gain of 0.38 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.60 percent to 295.49 against 293.74 points previously.
The equity market capitalization added XOF 43 billion (about US$74 million) to close at XOF 7,291 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,248 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 82,985 traded stocks relative to 170,193 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,011.638 million (against XOF 1,427.957 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 301 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was SONATEL SENEGAL with 32,795 traded securities (accounted for about 40 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 819.072 million contributing nearly 41 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 4.05 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.89.
Among the 31 traded securities today, 17 stocks experienced price gains, 4 witnessed price drops and 10 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price loser after losing 1.80 percent to end at XOF 27,500. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 0.62 percent at XOF 24,000 and SONATEL SENEGAL traded at XOF 24,995 after sagging by 0.02 percent. BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE share price dropped by 0.01 percent to close at XOF 125,000.
On the gainers’ table, BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO gained 6.48 percent to settle at XOF 115,000 as the biggest gainer and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 5.37 percent to trade at XOF 21,600. MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 5.26 percent to close at XOF 5,000 and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 3.64 percent to trade at XOF 85,000. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 98,900 after adding 3.56 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index rose by 0.31 percent at 164.18 points and public utilities sector index added 0.24 percent to end at 806.53 points. The distribution sector index rose by 0.05 percent to end at 551.65 points and financial services sector index surged by 1.42 percent to end at 108.33 points. Agriculture sector index soared by 1.07 percent to trade at 196.39 points. Transportation sector jumped by 0.61 percent to settle at 929.99 points but Miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 555.56 points.
