Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 294.05 to 293.92 points, a drop of 0.04 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.09 percent to 295.21 against 295.49 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 6 billion (about US$11 million) to close at XOF 7,285 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,291 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 1,037,420 traded stocks relative to 82,985 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,745.853 million (against XOF 2,011.638 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 210 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 988,149 traded securities (accounted for about 95 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 532.668 million contributing nearly 31 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 34.50 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.87.
Among the 29 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 12 witnessed price drops and 5 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price loser after sagging by 5.09 percent to end at XOF 20,500. BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 4.00 percent at XOF 120,005 and SMB COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 19,105 after dropping 3.97 percent. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL share price plunged by 2.33 percent to close at XOF 84,000 and VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 71,410 by losing 2.18 percent.
Conversely, SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 48,375 as the biggest gainer and TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to trade at XOF 265,800. ONATEL BURKINA FASO rose by 2.31 percent to close at XOF 13,300 and BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 2.09 percent to trade at XOF 195,000. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 112,500 after adding 1.81 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index decreased by 0.50 percent at 163.36 points but public utilities sector index added 0.30 percent to end at 808.96 points. The distribution sector index fell by 0.10 percent to end at 551.08 points and financial services sector index sagged by 0.72 percent to end at 107.55 points. Agriculture sector index plunged by 0.80 percent to trade at 194.81 points. Transportation sector jumped by 2.05 percent to settle at 949.09 points and miscellaneous sector index surged by 7.50 percent to close at 597.22 points.
