Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 297.77 to 295.64 points, a drop of 0.72 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.47 percent at 301.72 points against 303.14 points previously.
The equity market capitalization dropped XOF 33 billion (about US$58.5 million) to close at XOF 7,445 billion relatively to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,480 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 193839 traded stocks relatively to 434,771 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 416.567 million (against XOF 632.295 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 222 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 178,336 traded securities (accounted for about 92 percent of the total volume). FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 145.361 million contributing nearly 35 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 42.62 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.47.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 31 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 14 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price gainers, VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers after adding 3.19 percent to close at XOF 77,400. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 3.09 percent to trade at XOF 20,000 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 140,000 by adding 2.94 percent. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE share price gained 1.54 percent to trade at XOF 33,000 and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 157,000 after gaining 0.96 percent.
In the zone region, TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE slid by 6.30 percent to close at XOF 21,500 as the biggest price losers and TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 5.00 percent to close at XOF 389,500. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE skid by 4.24 percent to close at XOF 27,005. PALM COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 3.63 percent to end at XOF 13010 and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE shed off 3.10 percent to settle at XOF 5,000.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.55 percent at 167.03 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 0.36 percent to end at 826.43 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.07 percent to end at 106.81 points, but distribution sector index declined by 2.09 percent to end at 577.93 points. The agriculture sector index dropped 1.70 percent to close at 179.71 points. The transportation sector index rose by 0.14 percent to settle at 1,245.02. points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 650.31 points.
