Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 293.92 to 295.16 points, a gain of 0.42 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.29 percent to 296.07 against 295.21 points previously.
The equity market capitalization lost XOF 21 billion (about US$36 million) to close at XOF 7,306 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,285 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 154,142 traded stocks relative to 1,037,420 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,353.954 million (against XOF 1,745.853 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 32 traded securities via 242 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 92,845 traded securities (accounted for about 60 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 608.226 million contributing nearly 45 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 20.67 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.98.
Among the 29 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 9 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. ONATEL BURKINA FASO emerged as the top price loser after sagging by 3.76 percent to end at XOF 12,800. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 2.80 percent at XOF 26,000 and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 14,500 after dropping 2.36 percent. NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE share price plunged by 1.85 percent to close at XOF 53,000 and SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 11,700 by losing 1.60 percent.
Conversely, TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 285,735 as the biggest gainer and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.27 percent to trade at XOF 29,500. AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE rose by 5.34 percent to close at XOF 21,595 and BERNABE COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 4.17 percent to trade at XOF 125,010. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO settled at XOF 55 after surging by 1.85 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index added 0.91 percent at 164.84 points but public utilities sector index sagged by 0.12 percent to end at 808.01 points. The distribution sector index grew by 1.59 percent to end at 554.45 points and financial services sector index surged by 0.97 percent to end at 108.59 points. Agriculture sector index plunged by 1.59 percent to trade at 191.72 points. Transportation sector went down by 1.26 percent to settle at 937.15 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 597.22 points.
