Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 295.16 to 293.11 points, a drop of 0.69 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.69 percent to 294.02 against 296.07 points previously.
The equity market capitalization sagged by XOF 51 billion (about US$88 million) to close at XOF 7,255 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,306 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 96,890 traded stocks relative to 154,142 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 944.912 million (against XOF 1,353.954 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 307 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 56,128 traded securities (accounted for about 58 percent of the total volume). UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 490.557 million contributing nearly 52 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 12.47 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.76.
Out of the 30 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 13 witnessed price drops and 6 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer after adding 2.08 percent to end at XOF 73,000. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 2.01 percent at XOF 28,155 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 14,500 after adding 1.89 percent. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE share price increased by 1.85 percent to close at XOF 82,500 and BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 125,000 after advancing by 1.54 percent.
On the other hand, ONATEL BURKINA FASO sagged by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 11,840 as the biggest loser and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 7.49 percent to trade at XOF 27,290. NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 7.41 percent to close at XOF 4,625 and BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO went down by 6.87 percent to trade at XOF 107,100. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 70,000 after crashed by 4.11 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.63 percent at 163.80 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 0.55 percent to end at 803.57 points. The distribution sector index plunged by 0.64 percent to end at 550.88 points and financial services sector index plummeted by 1.14 percent to end at 107.35 points. Agriculture sector index plunged by 0.02 percent to trade at 191.68 points. Transportation sector rose by 0.26 percent to settle at 939.54 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 597.22 points.
