Cote D’Ivoire Stock Markets | 18 Sep 2015: BRVM Equity marginally falls, Financial sector index 0.95% higher
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Friday, marginally lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 293.11 to 292.88 points, a drop of 0.08 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.02 percent to 293.97 against 294.02 points previously.
The equity market capitalization sagged by XOF 1.08 billion (about US$1.9 million) to close at XOF 7,254 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,255 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 316,032 traded stocks relative to 96,890 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2,590.895 million (against XOF 944.912 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 365 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 175,994 traded securities (accounted for about 56 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,098.079 million contributing nearly 42 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 36.02 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.79.
Out of the 30 traded securities today, 13 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 7 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer after adding 7.37 percent to end at XOF 29,300. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 6.17 percent at XOF 105,000 and SODE COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 81,995 after gaining 2.49 percent. SICOR COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 2.44 percent to close at XOF 8,400 and UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 26,000 after surging by 1.96 percent.
On the other hand, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 7.48 percent to settle at XOF 26,050 as the biggest loser and SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 6.98 percent to trade at XOF 45,000. ONATEL BURKINA FASO declined by 6.00 percent to close at XOF 11,130 and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE shred by 5.00 percent to trade at XOF 152,000. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 22,790 after crashed by 4.81 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index fell by 0.46 percent at 163.04 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 0.14 percent to end at 802.44 points. The distribution sector index plunged by 1.90 percent to end at 540.42 points but financial services sector index surged by 0.95 percent to end at 108.37 points. Agriculture sector index marginally rose by 0.05 percent to trade at 191.78 points. Transportation sector rose by 1.02 percent to settle at 949.78 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 597.22 points.
