Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) main indices closed the trading session this Monday, lower than the previous day for BRVM 10, and higher for BRVM Composite. BRVM 10 index decreased from 303.65 to 303.63 points, a marginal drop of 0.01 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.09 percent at 303.73 points against 303.47 points previously
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 6.3 billion (about US$10.8 million) to close at XOF 7,494 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,489 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 551,832 traded stocks relative to 173,960 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,068.312 million (against XOF 2,204.222 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 250 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK Transnational Incorporated Togo with 522,945 traded securities (accounted for about 94.77 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 377.275 million contributing nearly 39.11 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 40.62 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.53.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 33 traded securities today, 10 stocks experienced price gains, 10 witnessed price drops and 13 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 6.92 percent to end at XOF 27,800. BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE jumped by 6.63 percent at XOF 209,000 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 30,000 after surging by 5.15 percent. CFAO MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE share price climbed by 2.27 percent to close at XOF 90,000 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 122,000 after rising by 1.67 percent.
On the contrary, SMB COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 7.50 percent to settle at XOF 17,575 as the biggest loser and NEI-CEDA COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 6.78 percent to trade at XOF 4,195. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 3.20 percent to close at XOF 24,200 and SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 2.38 percent to trade at XOF 164,000. ONATEL BURKINA FASO traded at XOF 13,200 by losing 2.22 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index dipped by 0.48 percent at 161.68 points and public utilities sector index dropped 0.34 percent to end at 839.52 points. However, financial services sector index advanced by 0.18 percent to end at 110.07 points and distribution sector index rose by 0.52 percent to end at 578.51 points. The agriculture sector index fell by 0.01 percent to close at 195.25 points and transportation sector index gained 6.55 percent to settle at 1,012.25 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
