Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 303.63 to 302.43 points, a drop of 0.40 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.08 percent at 303.50 points against 303.73 points previously.
The equity market capitalization dropped XOF 5.6 billion (about US$9.6 million) to close at XOF 7,489 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,494 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 127,194 traded stocks relative to 551,832 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 955.806 million (against XOF 1,068.312 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 250 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK Transnational Incorporated Togo with 93,284 traded securities (accounted for about 73.34 percent of the total volume). FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 298.636 million contributing nearly 31.24 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 13.97 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.58.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 28 traded securities today, 6 stocks experienced price gains, 6 witnessed price drops and 16 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the positive side, BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 6.22 percent to end at XOF 222,000. SICABLE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 2.00 percent at XOF 102,000 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 26,500 after surging by1.92 percent. BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE share price grew by 0.83 percent to close at XOF 122,000 and TOTAL SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 26,400 after adding 0.38 percent.
On the negative side, SMB COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 3.27 percent to settle at XOF 17,000 as the biggest loser and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 1.23 percent to trade at XOF 120,500. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE went down by 1.00 percent to close at XOF 29,700 and SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 0.77 percent to trade at XOF 11,610. SONATEL SENEGAL traded at XOF 26,150 by dropping 0.57 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index dropped 0.22 percent at 161.33 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 0.44 percent to end at 835.80 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.19 percent to end at 109.86 points, but distribution sector index marginally added 0.04 percent to end at 575.76 points. The agriculture sector index grew by 0.26 percent to close at 195.76 points and transportation sector index gained 6.13 percent to settle at 1,074.30 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
