Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 302.43 to 305.73 points, a gain of 1.09 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.63 percent at 305.41 points against 303.50 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained XOF 47.2 billion (about US$81million) to close at XOF 7,536 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,489 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 160,459 traded stocks relative to 127,194 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 2384.849 million (against XOF 955.806 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 27 traded securities via 283 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ONATEL BURKINA FASO with 67,761 traded securities (accounted for about 42.23 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 885.674 million contributing nearly 37.14 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 17.13 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.78.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 27 traded securities today, 13 stocks experienced price gains, 3 witnessed price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the positive side, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers by adding 7.39 percent to end at XOF 31,895. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE pumped by 6.86 percent at XOF 89,224 and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 21,995 after adding 4.74 percent. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE share price grew by 4.56 percent to close at XOF 126,000 and TOTAL SENEGAL with a closing price of XOF 24,000 after adding 2.13 percent.
On the negative side, BOLLORE AFRICA LOGISTIC COTE D’IVOIRE dipped by 5.41 percent to settle at XOF 210,00 as the biggest loser and ONATEL BURKINA FASO slacked by 0.76 percent to trade at XOF 13,100. BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL declined by 0.01 percent to close at XOF 81,750.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 1.37 percent at 163.54 points and public utilities sector index advanced by 0.67 percent to end at 841.41 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.83 percent to end at 110.77 points and distribution sector index jumped by 0.90 percent to end at 580.97 points. The agriculture sector index grew by 1.10 percent to close at 197.92 points but transportation sector index waned by 5.33 percent to settle at 1,017.02 points while miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 638.27 points.
